Hiccups usually occur suddenly and continuously, and may last for several hours and even days and nights. Sometimes it attacks in intervals and lasts for several months and even interferes with the patient's talking, eating, breathing and

1) Relaxation Exercise and Three-line Relaxing Exercise

The patient can take a standing, sitting or lying posture. Do the Three-line Relaxing Exercise or Relaxation Exercise. Pay attention to relaxing the chest, waist and back repeatedly. Practise 3 times a day, 20 to 30 minutes each time. After practising the exercise, massage the Zusanli point for 5 minutes. See the previous sections on hypotension and poplexy sequelae for details.

2) Standing Straight Like a Stake Cultivation Exercise

Concentrate the mind on the fingers. Close the eyes but imagine looking at the diaphragm 15 to 20 minutes, practise 3 to 5 times a day. After ending the exercise, massage the Zusanli point for 5 minutes. See Chapter Two for details.

a. Press Neiguan point with the tips of the thumbs for about 2 to 5 minutes and Zusanli point for 2 minutes.

b. Press Shanzhong point with the pad of one of the middle fingers for 2 minutes.

c. Press Zhongwan point with a thumb tip for about one minute, repeating 2 to 3 times.

d. Press the parts above the eyeballs with the pads of the thumbs till you feel tingling.
